Songs To Add To Your Playlist While Boating
So what are some good songs that you can play while you’re boating? While you can make a playlist with any music that is upbeat and fun or peaceful and classic, these examples of songs will add a little something extra to any boating trip. Not only do these artists and these songs take you back to a special time in your life, but they will all bring to mind boating. So sit back, relax, and check out some songs that should be added to your day out on Lake Lanier.
“Come Sail Away” By Styx
Styx formed in 1972 in Chicago. The band is known for blending a variety of music types from hard rock guitar to acoustic guitar with upbeat beats and a piano. Styx has a variety of best known songs and one of those songs is “Come Sail Away.” While we don’t offer any sailboats to take out onto Lake Lanier, listening to this classic piano ballad with a heavy guitar, you’ll be taken back to the 70s and 80s. The song was written during a depressing time for one of the Styx members because album sales were too low.
“Southern Cross” By Crosby, Stills & Nash
Another classic group is Crosby, Stills & Nash. This folk-rock supergroup also had the occasional appearance by Neil Young, making them Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young. The original songwriters of Crosby, Stills & Nash are David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash. With several songs that have become classics, “Southern Cross” is one of their lesser known songs. However, it tells the story of a beautiful story between a brokenhearted sailor that seeks comfort in the sea and the Southern Cross. The Southern Cross, for those who are not familiar, is a constellation that sailors use for navigation in the Southern Hemisphere. The song details escaping a failed love affair by sailing across the world because sometimes love hurts and there’s no other way to deal with it other than running away.
“Let The Good Times Roll” By The Cars
A lesser known rock group from the late 1970s, The Cars were an American rock band. The band formed in Boston in 1976 and were at the forefront of guitar-based rock in the 1970s. They also incorporated new synthesizer pop, which flourished during the early 1980s. While they aren’t as well known at other bands during that time, The Cars still came out with some great songs such as “Let The Good Times Roll.” This song is a slower rhythm and is almost a parody of good times, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t have a great time while listening to this song whether it’s during boating or just at a party.
When it comes to Jimmy Buffett, he is the king of creating fun boating songs. There is “A Pirate Looks At 40”, “Changes In Latitudes Changes In Attitudes,” “5 O’Clock Somewhere,” “Knee Deep,” and “Margaritaville.” Jimmy Buffett is one of the biggest names in the music industry. Even though his music isn’t geared toward the young, everyone knows a song or two of his. Buffett strives for an island escapism lifestyle and that comes across very well in his music. He even has an entire base of fans that call themselves the Parrotheads because they are so dedicated to that island lifestyle. This makes him one of the best choices of music to bring out boating.
Another favorite to take out boating with you is Kenny Chesney. Songs like “Boats,” “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem,” and “Better Boat.” Kenny Chesney has a variety of music that dates all the way from the mid-1990s to now. This American country singer has 20 albums out and is one of the most popular country singers in the most recent years. He is one of the most popular musicians to attend in concert because he puts on such a great show. If you’re a fan of country music or your loved ones on the boat are, then Kenny Chesney is a must-add to your boating playlist.
